MTSF TERMS CHANGING APRIL 2010
Does anyone know what the changes will be? I assume they will not be as favourable as the current Agreement?

This whole agreement was bought in for change to happen but if this agreement is ditched why should we agree to change of any sort if they R/M seek to change agreements at their whim/will!. It will be akin to for management to demand anything they want of you change of hours, attendance, or even split shifts, and more we should all be very careful on these agreements for we all went on strike for these and many more agreements!.

Re: MTSF TERMS CHANGING APRIL 2010
An agreement is not something they can just back out of without sitting down with the CWU and making a new agreement to replace the MTSF one. Changing something on a whim without such negotiations is known as Executive Action and we all know RM tried that last year and we all told 'em to do one and we went out on strike, so DON'T PANIC, MR MAINWARING !!!k979aaa wrote:This whole agreement was bought in for change to happen but if this agreement is ditched why should we agree to change of any sort if they R/M seek to change agreements at their whim/will!. Some of the terms of MTSF would have to be re-negotiated this year anyway (even if there had been no RM/CWU conflict last year) because of the changes to the pension scheme and the effect of changes to the Normal Retirement Age. As far as I am aware, I believe offering redundancy to only over-55s first could now be legally challenged as being in breach of age discrimination laws, another reason why the MTSF agreement will probably have to get re-negotiated. You can count on me - and thousands of others across the land - going on strike straightaway if RM try to force any of those things in by executive action, though

Re: MTSF TERMS CHANGING APRIL 2010
As far as I know the changes to the MTSF have already been agreed by the CWU. As a Counters Rep we were told a couple of weeks ago at a briefing in Glasgow, that as there are going to be less reps for counters then anyone who wanted E/VR should notify HQ as soon as because of the changes in April.
But these changes, that we don't know the details of, could sway our decisions one way or the other if you see what I mean.

The MTSF agreement has got to be renegotiated due to the government changes to the minimum pension age - nothing to do with Age Discrimination.
At the moment you can get your pension from age 50 - In april this becomes 55.
As a result the current MTSF terms for those aged 50-54 will be out of date as they allow for the payment of pension.
As far as I know the discussions are being done as part of the still long awaited agreement following the Royal Mail Dispute pre Xmas.
Regarding age discrimination. The MTSF agreement was revised a couple of years ago to take into account the Age Discrimation legislation. As part of this it was confirmed that it was perfectly OK for VR's to be offered in seniority order and to those aged 55+ first.
As far as I know this has not changed.
