Annual Leave.
I wonder if anyone on here can help? Is the 'lead in' day for travelling on the Saturday before annual leave begins on the Monday an entitlement? I have been told I cannot have the Saturday before my A/L commences as an odd day's leave as they are 'booked up'. But, I have now heard that if the odd day in continuous with my A/L, I can take it. Of course I could just go sick, but I would like to see the look on the screws face if I am entitled to the Saturday off for travelling.

The old SPL LV.....
Phone up and tell them you cant go in and will cover it with A/L... Ask for SPL LV Now because you have a bone in ya leg and your hols is next week, And you need to sort things at home.... Basicly tell them a half truth.. ALL based on the truth.... And cover it with one of your days A/L. They will kick up a stink but i dont think that will bother a Officer or your caliber?????

Re: The old SPL LV.....
Cheers Tommo. I'll sort this out one way or another. They owe me nine days leave, but insist on telling me when I can't take them. I'l bet it's a common problem right throughout Royal Fail.L Tommo wrote:Phone up and tell them you cant go in and will cover it with A/L... The Spl Lv ..
In my office when i worked in the bookroom the SPL Lv was a shambles.. As people just took days off when wanted... But if thats good for one then its good for everyone... Its all to do with Local Agreements.. But there should be a national agreement shouldnt there???
Well good luck n have a good time on leave... Not to many beers ...

In my office a few of us still have a bit of leave to sign for (3 days 4 me)our spread is 7 over the summer period and 5 in the winter, our dom has said that he will open up slots for those of us with outstanding leave BUT only 1 slot per week, you can only ask IWW but i have found saturdays to be really hard to get.The lead in for travelling used to be a common thing in my office and was near enough always granted but things have changed alot since then, your dom could end up giving you unpaid special leave c instead.

Cheers mate. I asked about Special Leave C, but the DUM told me he couldn't let me have it as they had too many people off already.johnnypick wrote:In my office a few of us still have a bit of leave to sign for (3 days 4 me)our spread is 7 over the summer period and 5 in the winter, our dom has said that he will open up slots for those of us with outstanding leave BUT only 1 slot per week, you can only ask IWW but i have found saturdays to be really hard to get.The lead in for travelling used to be a common thing in my office and was near enough always granted but things have changed alot since then, your dom could end up giving you unpaid special leave c instead.

I was sure I'd seen a bead of sweat on my line manager the other day - Until I realised that he had just brushed past me too close

Yes, I wasn't feeling too well. I'll soldier on for a few weeks and see if the feeling wears off. If not, I'll just have to phone in sick. I think I'll be alright. It's twenty years since my last warning and that was only a Stage 3.deadbox wrote:Hey.....Your looking a bit off colour......mayby your coming down with something........LOOKS LIKE YOU COULD DO WITH A FEW DAYS OFF......you'd fell much better

Please dont go sick...
Thats the last resort.... SICK..... Just phone in on the day... FECK EM!!!! Coz the DUM has to offer you more than 1 way to cover any O/A. OTHER ABSENCE..
And thats where Spl Lv comes in.. In a case of F,T,A, And a fact finding meeting when a postie returns the DUM will have to ask Why and if there is any reasons for being off.. And the ways to work off the time owed.. A day off of your leave spread or Spl Lv C... Or an 1hr a day worked back...Or wot u agree??? This always made a mockery of signing for odd days as everybody does this... Wrongly or right it goes on... Now IM NOT ENCOURAGING U TO DO THIS BUT IT HAPPENDS......
As you have asked you DUM he will know so watch ya back like u need telling...
Just good luck IWW.. The DUM is being a james hunt so do wot u have to.... It silly coz if you have to go off U GO!.. So wot would they do then??????
Its just a fecking game....

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
