Andy Williams - Former Member of the National Standing Orders Committee of the ex UPW/UCW and National Honorary Member

It is with sadness and regret that branches are advised that Andy Williams, former Member of the ex UPW/UCW Standing Orders Committee and National Honorary Member of the Union was found dead at home on Sunday Morning, 08th February.


Andy joined the UPW in 1956 as a Postman in the Liverpool Amalgamated Branch. Andy held various branch officer positions for a number of years and was elected to the National Standing Orders Committee in 1967 and served on that Committee for 13 years - until his retirement in 1980 when he was awarded National Honorary Membership of the union.


On behalf of the union I have conveyed sincere and deep condolences to Andy's daughter and son. The funeral arrangements are as follows:


Service and Cremation on Thursday 18th February at 1.30 pm at Landican
Crematorium, Landican Cemetery,
Arrow Park Road, Wirral CH49 5LW

Directions from Liverpool:
Wallesey Tunnel, M53, leave junction 3 follow signs left to Arrowe Park Road Hospital at Island turn left into Arrowe Park Road, Cemetery on the left

The family have requested Family Flowers only; however, if you wish to make a donation in memory of Andy, the family would like you make it in favour of "The Lung Foundation" These can be sent via the funeral director, Barry Lewis, at the following address: Co-operative Funeral Care, 87 Pensby Road, Heswell, Wirral, CH60 7RB.

There will be a reception following the service at The Irby Social Club, 15 Thingwall road, Irby Village, Pensby, Wirral ch61 3ua
