No.113/2010 Ref: AK/BT Date: 10th February 2010
To: All Branches with members employed in BT
Dear Colleague
BT Pay Claim 2010
The T&FS Executive considered the 2010 BT Pay Claim at its meeting on 3rd February, taking account of the views received from Branches on this issue.
Following debate and after careful consideration of the relevant issues, the Executive has agreed to submit a pay claim for a 5% increase on current salaries to flow through to all allowances and the pay and pension supplement.
I have today formally submitted the above claim to BT. The first pay meeting will take place on 11th February when we will explain to the Company in detail our rationale and justification for the claim.
A Pay Bulletin will be issued following every pay meeting with BT outlining progress on the discussions, and branches are asked to circulate these bulletins to members.
As well as keeping members informed, it is important that we galvanise members’ support for the claim and encourage them to express their views directly to BT on the need for a 5% pay rise. The T&FS Executive will be considering how we can coordinate this at a national level, but I would also ask Branches to encourage members to make their views clear to BT. Strong support from our membership will play a crucial role in convincing the Company of the importance of meeting this year’s pay claim.
Any comments from Branches with regards to BT pay should be sent to my office via Bill Taylor (btaylor@cwu.org).
Yours sincerely,
ANDY KERR
Deputy General Secretary (T&FS)
