Does an area cwu rep have the authority to ok sa's being merged with walks etc or is that something that would have to come from higher up?

All reps work for people who elected them , it's up to the membership to decide what they want and for the rep to talk to the managers putting these points across. So the answer is yes any rep can decide an agreement but only if the workforce agree with it

so if arrangements had already been made and ok'd by the area rep then he would then have to put it to the membership? i understand he's our representative (not elected though just didn't have any competition) but are you sure about it having to then go to the membership?

If poss could someone point me in the direction of anything official on this? i've had a look through the rep guides etc on here but cant find anything specific. any info is appreciated

aye but then would it have to go to the members first or can a area rep just ok the change and be done with it?

looking over the cwu site its pretty pants, i cant believe how much info is on here but not on there or maybe its just me not being able to find it =(
