I have booked a week abroad in May and as the holiday runs from Friday to Friday I needed to book 2 extra days leave to cover the Friday and Saturday. I handed in my form requesting 2 extra days to be told I can have the Friday but not the Saturday off as it is fully booked!!
Am I entitled to ask for a travelling day as I am going abroad?
I expect Royal Mail want me to fly back to work for the one day!

Can you not get a cash cover for the saturday? ie pay a workmate to do it?

Unfortunatly, paying someone to cover you is banned in our office!

Well it's banned for week days in our office. But saturdays it's allowed so I guess we are lucky

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
