TRIGGERING A STAGE 1?
Just a quick question.I am on an early shift at a MC.I work 6am-2pm tue-sat.Went in last tue at 6am,even tho i felt rough,by 10am was feeling really sick,so went to see my manager(good bloke-ex postie who knows the score),and told him i would be back wed if i was better, but if still rough then i wouldn't be.I ended up having the rest of the week off.I keep a record of my sick and up until last week i have had 2 absent periods totalling 9 days, now with last week i make that 4 and 1/2 days onto 9=13 and 1/2 days and 3 absent periods. My question is will RM try to trigger a STAGE1 and try and count it as 5 days, even though i worked for half a shift on tuesday? Thanks in advance.
same as it ever was...

Re: TRIGGERING A STAGE 1?
ok cheers, but does the union have a stance of this, because i haven't actually had 14days of sick in the 12 month period?Jimmy Carr`s laugh wrote:Probably. Then you argue about the half day. Its all automated nowadays so everything gets triggered asap , then you talk your way out of the s**t. Same with accidents at work, thats why they need to be reported , for proof, or illness at a later date , because all knowledge will be conveniently forgotten by managers when the s**t hits the fan

Re: TRIGGERING A STAGE 1?
Yeah I remember this, if you worked 4 hours and went home it was not classed as a days absence but I agree this may have changed.Jimmy Carr`s laugh wrote:What do you mean by union stance ? Your either off sick 14 days or your not . Its black and white to my eyes. You need to work 4 hrs for it to be classed as half a day. It used to be if you worked hrs and then went home that day wasnt counted - think thats changed though
If this is a national thing now, the half day I mean, there must be an agreement somewhere.
No I'm not being paranoid, they really are out to get me.

You can still have half day sick.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
