D2D info needed please

Due to the adverse weather conditions, we are unable to deliver mail to a very large percentage of delivery points due to arctic conditions. However, we have been told that we can still claim 100% D2D as long the undelivered D2D is in the delivery slot & can carry forward until the following week.
My concerns are claiming payment for D2D that we haven't delivered (fraud) ? & What if postman goes sick the following week and reserve postman has to deliver the D2D for nothing ?
Is there a guideline on D2D in adverse weather conditions ? I have the D2D agreement and cannot find anything in it !!!

It isn't fraud if your manager has given you the instruction to "stream" dtd for operational reasons - in fact it's a rare occurrence of management common sense and should be treasured as such. If you go off sick through no fault of your own then let someone else worry about it and ask advice from your manager when you return, the worst that can happen is an arranged deduction for the part you left to someone else or some guy asking for a share of the payment.

Personally, I would not make any claim for D2Ds that I had not delivered, irrespective of whatever DIM DOM might say. It should be left to the Rep/Dom (or more senior RM/CWU) to agree on whether the D2Ds can carry over for a period of time. Don't forget a lot of D2D are time-affected for reasons of promotions, special offers, competitions etc.

What ever you do regarding D2D's, if it's under instruction from your Dim get it in writing, for gawd sake don't take what they say as gospel.
They won't think twice about hanging you out to dry if their decisions are challenged from above.

Hmm,looking at CWU comms our union big bods seem to think D2D is essential to maintain traffic volume and revenue. Being on the coal face ,so to speak, I beg to differ.
Personally I have problems with my present volume regardless of D2D.
Am I just an odd weirdo slacker?

I have been thinking about this as someone from our office was sacked for fraud for signing off d2d not done and i will be carrying mine over to next week. The form we are provided to sign saying they are completed will be handed in next week but had i put it in saturday i had planned to add a note at the bottom saying that they would be carried over to next week due to weather to cover myself. We had a genuine problem with d2ds being dumped but since this person was sacked if managers ask people to sign them off and to hand them in so they can tick their boxes many would not. cover yourself just in case.

D2D shouldnt carry over to the next week (though it is a weird few weeks ahead so it might be ok). Whatever doesnt get delivered in the expected time slot by the delivery person should result in then being asked why, and then the manager getting them deleivered by whatever means possible in the alloted time scale. Again, its freaky weather ,so I guess its anything goes ?? Just get a witness to what he said , unless he told everyone the same thing, then your fine

In our case it was a public announcement to all staff and a notice put up on the board - I think that will do nicely. We ARE blessed with a line manager who can think and plan ahead instead of hiding when the crisis arrives.

Why are some offices carrying them forward to the following week if your carrying 3 from the previous week and you have 3 for the following week in essence your doing 6 d2ds without a quarrel . As most of us aware d2ds and an increase in volume is a very touchy subject as the majority do not want more than 3, but as put in black/white in this month edition of the VOICE its rather clear that our Union leaders are pushing to lift this limit to safe guard F/T jobs.

So my point is carry them forward without a quarrel i guarantee R/M and the union will use this as a stick to beat us when they ask us to vote YES on longer del spans and the limit lifted being lifted. At the beggining of the week our area wasnt effected that much but nearer the middle of the week we was. I informed my DIM how many D2DS item i wasnt delivering and adjusted my D2D docket accordingly DIM had no problem with it . This is what my whole office did we will not carry them over ever.

Just try to bear in mind the possible consequences of carrying them over in the very near future.
