SA Contract

If my memory is correct, the SA contract comes under "The Way Forward" agreement. I don`t currently have a SA contract although I and all my collegues in BMC have submitted our hours for one months ago.

Does this mean BMC is in breach of TWF agreement? BMC have been giving out SA hours on a daily basis, adhoc. This basically means you might get a phone call 3-4 hours before your start time, on the day of attendence!

I just wish we would decline SA on this basis, and force BMC to give us our SA contract, as it should be.

It`s going to be a very looooong year, me thinks.

Anyway, be glad you still get some SA-rate overtime. I know people working in the 'upstream' part of the business who only get crumbs of overtime, at short notice, and even then it's not paid at SA rate, but at the ordinary 'first 10 hours' rate. The volumes of mail that now go through as DSA used to all be handled by people in the Regional Distribution Centres aka 'network', and the loss of that work to the competition has drastically reduced duties and overtime in those offices
So every time you're taking DSA shite out on delivery, just remember that those items of mail used to provide jobs for other CWU members in other parts of the RM business. Any growth in DSA traffic has a corresponding shrinkage of duties in the Network parts of RM

SA pre dates the way forward, I dont recall anything about he SA system in the WF agreement.

All SA contracts have expired at my D.O but mbrs still do SA duties as usual and are paid SA rate as usual.

Unlikley to have new contracts why the revision of SA duties is in limbo.
