DDA advice

Post by viking »

I have been advised by atos that i am more than likely covered by the DDA. and am limited to how much walking i should do and agreed that i should not do a bigger delivery than my existing one which has been timed at 3hrs.23 mins. This allowed me to go over a bit if on the occassional day i needed to go slower. This was all agreed. Now with the increase in delivery spans how and what rights have i got. I have asked if i can do extra indoor work to cover any time which is left either starting earlier or doing extra when returning to the office. The manager has ignored having any discussion with me about this so what next. any advice please.

Be very careful
At first you may think you are protected but,
RM may say that a 4.15 park&loop delivery involves less walking and more opportunity for rest than a normal 3.30 delivery.
Speak to your rep, atos and your own doctor asap.
The last thing you need is pressure from some 20year old flyer you have to split a duty with. :arrrghhh
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

If atos has agreed limits on the length of your delivery and you are covered by dda no-one will be able to overide this.
If your doctor will state that jumping in and out of a van would make things worse this would protect you even more.
Be prepared for the pressure to medically retire you to increase though.

Viking, well done on taking the intiative and suggesting an alternative in doing indoor work to cover any extra make up in time....you have in affect asked them for a reasonable adjustment which is something that sounds to me certainly reasonable, :Applause but as shown by your typical Dimwit they think that they can bypass or ignore these request...they cannot!
Put it in writing that your willing to make up any extra in time by working indoors,if the Dimwit still ignores it, then put a grievance in against him and also get your Area Rep onto them, another thing you should do is actually ring Atos up and have a word with them and ask them if they have actually registered you with Royal Fails own disability helpline,Atos have a habit of saying you `probably` are covered under the DDA then when a Dimwit doesn`t want to comply with the DDA say that your not actually DDA compliant but have `some mobility` problems and would a trolley not help instead or some other guff  !

Also you could visit your local Jobcentre or Shaw Trust(if they are in your area)and ask to speak to one of their disability advisors for advice, believe me they are excellent and will speak to your Dimwit and `advise` :left: him on how the DDA is being flouted.
If you need any more help PM me as I`ve been through it all myself.
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
