Adverse weather conditions policy

Can anybody enlighten me as to Royal Mails protocol with regards none attendance due to adverse weather conditions. Also leaving work early due to same reason.

Great so you can be sacked for not making it in. Your LM will have ultimate say on what the 'punishment' will be - either loose a days annual leave or make up the time later or it's open to them to dicipline you on the stage system if they so wish? Merry Christmas. :cfo :lfo

I had to call in this morning to say I couldn't get to work. I went to catch my bus this morning , due at 0708, and it didn't arrive. I rang the bus company to ask if the buses were running and they told me the first bus had left but got stuck. The service was cancelled for the rest of the day.
I then rang staff resourcing to ask what I should do. I was told that 15 people had already phoned in and that I would be added to the list. I was told it would be given as unpaid leave or use a lieu day.
I live in a village with a once hourly bus (service runs between 0708 and 1830) which comes from the Scottish Borders to Edinburgh via the A68. It's the only bus which serves the village. The A68 was closed today at Soutra (Traffic Scotland website). The only way I could have got to work would have been to walk 5 miles to the nearest town (Dalkeith) and catch a bus from there. I would also have had to walk that 5 miles home again if I had made it to work.
There's no more snow forecast for tonight (met office website) so hopefully my bus will be running as normal tomorrow and I'll be able to get to work
