Dropping down from FT to 34 hours

I like my job but doesn't like doing IPS. I feel with all the throwing out for the walk I am covering for the week plus 2 hours of IPS is a little too much, with my open university studying and salsa dancing night outs. Next autumn I will be doing level 2 course instead of level 1. I am full time reserve.

I would be happy to stay on full time if I could get my own walk. (Not a hope 4.5 years)

I am hoping to drop down in June 2010, to allow me get out earlier and finished earlier without IPS holding you up for 2 hours.

As there are lot of changes coming ie vans sharing and walk scheduling machines. It might make my job a lot easier and spend less time on throwing / IPS (and possibly get a walk in repick if I am lucky). I am aware if I drop down to 34 hours (work 40 instead of 48) my quality of life is better and get lower pay, and I will not get back to full time that easily. No one know when it is coming or what is happening.

is 7 months longer enough to wait to see how the changes affect us. I want to finished around 12.30-1.30 not 2.00-3.00.

You have got no chance of finishing earlier . If anything, you'll be finishing later....much later. You may be able to drop your IPS but all that means is you'll be starting later and finishing later.

Carew what planet are u living on im a 24 hr part timer and all part timers in our office finish later than full time (full timers usually already gone when i start at 09;30) Your dom will make you start later as cos u not doin ips there wont be enough mail for u to throw up and with walk sequencing machines which we are having the pleasure of using at the moment u are going to get out later anyway.Our start times are changing in jan f/t 0600 now going to be 07;00 and p/t 09;30 now going to be 10;30.Good old royal mail improving the service by delivering peoples mail even later what planet is this company on for one i wont be here much longer on the job hunt at the moment and ias soon as i can i will tell royal mail where to stick this s**t job.
