I'd be grateful if you could advise me what the policy is for special leave entitlements to attend medical and dental appointments. I have been refused time off for these and made to change my leave day to coincide with the appointment. I try to arrange appointments for my day off but this isn't always possible.

We don't them anymore either, it used to be so easy in the days of early finishes to arrange appointments for after lunchtime by alas no more

Unless it's an emergency you should make an appointment for the afternoon - after work

I would ask at the local citizens advice about that one, find out where you stand legaly.

My initial appointments come through from the hospital with a date and time on them so I would'nt really want to change them due to having to wait months for them to come through. I had a medical with the DWP last week because of my AOD and had to leave work an hour early, will find out tomorrow if they have docked my pay.

If we have an appointment in the afternoon we have to come in, in the morning and work.
We get time to go home and wash before the appointment and the rest of the day is given as special leave.
If the appointment is in morning we either have to change our day off or come in for work in the afternoon.
Any little thing to get you to work (ba--a-ds)
