How does someone pull out of the CWU?

Is it as easy as a phone call or do you have to get a form and post it off, if it's a phone call whats the number please, not for myself as i will give them a chance, but for the members in my office who have told me they want out if we get safted, at present thats how it looks, there will be alot of very angry posties in the morning.

Definitely NOT the time to even think of leaving CWU. This is only part way through the most important fight we have ever had. Time to keep cool and not to desert the cause - especially when we haven't even seen what is only an interim short term deal, not the final deal.

The people at the top of the union are there because they were elected by us, they work for US, WE pay there wages by paying our subs, i can fully understand why some members feel let down AGAIN (2007) and now feel they have to take there own action (stopping subs). It's us reps who will have put up with all the flak tomorrow from our members but we know nothing on the agreement, so at this moment in time we all feel let down.

You're right mate. I was a CWU rep for eight years and you do get plenty of crap for the actions of those above. The thing is, we did (or did not, but we all had a vote) elect those at the top. What many people don't realise is that once they get their arses down in Wimbledon, they forget about the rest of us. They become detached in a way all other layers of the union who work alongside the members could never do. They become part of the system. They are courted by politicians, parasites on the board, etc. They never work Saturdays, so it's no concern to them that you might miss a big match or a day out with the kids because you're there unil four o'clock. Are they counting their coppers towards the end of the week? Not on their salary and low interest loans.
A local rep, an area rep and a branch secretary lead a far different lifestyle than the people at the top who know more about life on Jupiter than they do about the members. Still, stay in the CWU, fight both sets of bosses and vote one set out at the next elections and replace them with people who don't forget their origins.

I thought in 2007 it was round 30% no 70% yes from the PEC

Yep i remmember that too.

But stay in at least for now, what ever screwy deal they have come up with has to be put to a vote of the members....if you leave thats one less no vote!
