Wages over the Friday Monday Strike

A few colleagues and msyelf were discussing earlier how we were thinking RM might possibly try and pull a fast one and take the Friday and Monday wages off the one weeks ages.

This would be highly confrontational, and tantamount to financial bullying .. where would we stand on this if it occurred?

Absolutely nowhere. If we strike for 2 days, we lose 2 days pay. End of story.

Royal Mail would presumably argue that 121,000 people taking strike action to create the threat of customers taking their business away, thus losing RM money (and threatening jobs) is in itself 'financial bullying'. Or employment suicide

I can't see it. What is the cut-off for next week's pay? How do they know if someone off on the Friday may go into work on the Monday. Too much hassle for them.

Yeah but this is RM we are talking about and they are petty. They will do all they can to cause financial hardship.

Our Manager brought this up and this mornings group cuddle --- sorry huddle ----- . Apparently our Hours are worked from Monday to Sunday, but anything that affects pay apparently goes from Wednesday to Wednesday, he also confirmed we should expect a double whammy in next weeks pay for Friday and Mondays strike.

We will lose 2 days, it happened in 2007 strike, they try to starve us out

So we should work for nothing, what planet do you lived on mate, why don't you spend a day in the sorting office, but I seriously don't think you would last 5 seconds

it's my day off on monday, so i'm presuming the line manager will submit the wages and i'll only lose fridays pay? best have a word with him eh?

if rm decided to try and dock you a days pay when you are on your day off it would make their strike statistics look worse, as at the moment you would not be classed as striking that day so they will claim that there was only x% of workers striking as they only count the ones who were due to work and not the ones who would normally be striking but due to the way the strike has fallen are on day off / A/l etc, so in effect its in their interest to not try and dock a days pay(am not getting into the legality of trying to dock your wages if you were on the picket line on you day off arguement, thats one that is out of my league!)
