They'd better serve notice today for next week - there's no point in hanging about, Higson has given his response - now it is time for ours - and not before time, we should have balloted long ago.

Unlikely, too much at stake for everyone involved in this dispute. But then, when you read the reply by Higson I have to wonder whats really going on behind the scenes.

if no actual national strike takes plae,i can see the bullying, harassment, unpaid overtime continuing. a strike is needed to get an actual agreement now, not as and when conflicts strike within each office.

My rep told us today the strikes will be called off, but he also said last week we wouldn't be striking until November. I don't know where he gets his info from!

Maybe from the same place the public get theres. One women asked me why I was on delivery today, she said I should be on strike!

One of my customers had heard what Higson had to say and said he coouldn't understand why we were striking.

I told him not to pay no heed to what he was saying but to worry about what he was not saying. He had a think for a minute and then asked what he was missing. Said too much already I replied but just like the PO closures, you will find out when it is too late to do anything about it.

jo I do agree, and I know cuts are the norm, but please, negotiated cuts! The management of Royal Mail should hang their heads in shame, too many people are jumping on the bandwagon of recession and using it as an excuse to beat joe public worker with a big stick. NOBODY should feel grateful to be in gainful employment in this day and age, philistine ways of doing business are long gone! Royal Mail management are "supposed" to be educated and articulate enough, as any management team should be, to avoid these situations. Instead they thrive on confrontation and squeezing the front line in order to `furnish themselves with enormous bonuses, this has to STOP. It is destructive and plain greedy. It is not just Royal Mail this is going on at, it is happening in most big companies and certainly leave a very sour taste in the mouth.
