How long can the action last for? Do we have to give 7 days notice during each action or is until we reach a agreement?

The CWU can notify all dates in advance (highly unlikely) or give 7 days notice before
each period of IA, which is what we have been doing in London for the last 15 weeks.
It gives management less time to make alternative arrangements with Agency staff etc.

Forgive me if im wrong here but are M/CS out on the 22nd and then D/OS 23rd.

So disappointed in communication from the CWU i was expecting a phone call from my area rep informing me of the dates especially before the media found out .

Ones not impressed to find out this way on such an important issue buck your ideas up CWU leaders..

As usual the communication workers union are not cummunicating to us........

I have been unable to find any reference to what sort of action will be taken, will it be one day all out or rolling days like last time?...the letter to Rm states only that 7 days notification will be given...Maybe the Union are keeping their cards close to their chests to keep RM in the dark but it just annoys the rest of us who will be losing money and sleep not knowing where we stand. Several of my colleagues have said One day strikes will be worthless and they may as well go in.......

The Union needs to buck its ideas up or many of its already disgruntled members (who felt as though we were sold down the river last time) will seriously think about their own short term difficulties rather than the National one.
Our DOM has been as good to us as he is able ( he's an ex postie himself) and often takes a lot of flack from his immediate boss for not implementing everything he is told immediately but negotiating with us and finding reasonable solutions that work. He has our support for a thankless task being stuck between the upper management screams for more savings and his "lads" complaining about unfair and impracticable revisions.

Come on CWU communcate with US first and not the two faced media who sell us short and sensationalize minor stories that only serve to blacken the name of every Postie in the land.

Probaby to avoid the any strike action at all Royal Mail should get some people on their side of the table with their heads in the real world and not half way up their own arses.

Higson says:

Mark Higson said in response to the CWU's ultimatum: "If the union are serious about resolving this dispute they should immediately lift the threat of strike action, including the strikes planned for tomorrow in London, which have hung over our customers for far too long.

"Royal Mail is very disappointed that the CWU continues to threaten customers with national strike action and still fails to honour repeated offers to call off all strikes even though Royal Mail told them two weeks ago there would be no further changes this year."

Has he completely forgotten about the three month moratorium with a no strike promise that was offered to him to facilitate meaningful talks?
