Are pdas faster or Slower ?

The post office tell us that the pdas are faster to operate and save us time ,to me they are slower to operate .The information gets passed down the line a lot quicker but to wait for person coming out and then filling in info is a lot slower , the po wouldnt tell us porkies would they next they will be telling us the mail is 10cc down

i think they are only when you get a few items for the same address are they any faster
if they are not in then you have to write the card out as well as sorting the PDA
if they are in you have to input the name etc, instead of just giving them the card and letting them fill it in
like you say only the fact that it uploads faster [so they say] is the only up side

A few issues with the PDA's
The signature is always unrecognisable,
They're to bulky, ok if you have 1 item but not if you have multiple drops,
They've got a habit of freezing, requiring you to remove the battery and reset and reboot, sometimes this don't help so we still have to carry around the cards, can be annoying for the customer waiting on a doorstep in a dressing gown on a freezing morning.
They've recently started calling the Priority Service drivers who have upwards of 200 items, on the PDA telling them to return to the office to pick up more SD items.
For something that is supposed to cost £1,000, they don't seem to have any protection against the rain, just waiting for RM to chase a Postman for damages if 1 of em gets a soaking.
They don't seem to have a secure way of carrying the damn thing except a holster slung around the neck, which means that it,s continually getting in the way and if a customer is signing for an item you can end up staring down someones cleavage as you have to lean forward Much better if we had some kind of a case that fits on your belt that the PDA slips into.
It could be worse we could have the same ones as UPS they're the same size as a small laptop

Typical though RM 1 generation behind everything.

Here we are using IR scanners that are built like bricks and use old software. Yet now you can buy a Blackberry for a similar price that is proven to work, lightweight, can be secure and real-time and uses a more modern communication system - "Bluetooth" - although to be fair there may be security considerations with them but that would easily be solved by a decent R&D team.

Don't worry. You'll get them in about 10 years, when they're obsolete.
