Requesting a Union Rep.

Greetings to everyone.
I am in a spot of bother at work. I won't go into to much detail but it involves an allegation against me which will be used to dismiss me.
I am not sure of the rep who is going to represent me as in the past he has failed to represent others properly and allowed them to be sacked, also he has been presented with clear evidence of management falsifying statements and has allowed the manager to walk and the postman gets dismissed.
Now I don't know too much about the inner workings of the Union and whether it is normal for the Union to not go after management, you know whether the Unions job is simply to try to argue the case of the Postman rather than catch management out and make sure they are disciplined. There is a lot I don't know about.
I do not feel very confident about this man representing me.
My question is can I appeal for another rep, what channels do I go through and do I have much chance of success?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You can use any Rep of your choice, you can even use a friend, no-one should be alone with a manager, there should always be a third party

How do I go about it?
I mean I would like a rep with balls but don't know where to start.
Also if the management decide to sack me what can the union do?
I've been told by a high rep that if management decide to stitch me up there is not a lot the union can do about it. There is allways an employment tribunal but that would take ages to arrive, maybe eighteen months.

Contact your branch they should be able to organise another rep for you. Good Luck mate, if they are trying to stitch you up they usually make a mistake somewhere along the line
