I've noticed this rumour cropping up, more and more, in my MC. Apparently, should you be unfortunate enough to take ill on the day of a prior refused lieu day request and phone in sick, it is considered a premeditated absence. I can't see how the legitimacy of an absence can possibly be determined because of a prior lieu day request/refusal, by a manager who's not employed to determine sick legitimacy. I personally feel this is utter rubbish, totally unprovable and enforcible. Yet I'm hearing it more and more from staff. One colleague came in to work visibly ill because of this rumour, for fear of being dismissed (This is the incident that has sparked me to post this!)
Can I please have some clarification on the subject please?
TIA

Premeditated Absence/sick
Don't blame me, don't shame me, just because I'm the one to tell you.

Re: Premeditated Absence/sick
Or you can just go away and claim you can't back in time for your duty (i.e. car broken down so I'm stuck here). If only they'd given you the day off that wouldn't have happened!
A tricky one but it should go down as unauthorised absence and you lose a days pay.
