Can anyone help me out please.
I requested 21st and 22nd off one day holiday an another day as a day off, but my manager as always verbally agreed these days but now three days before the days i have been told he can't do it.
He has suggested that he could give me Sat off if i done a certain duty which was ok till another manager told a colleague to text me an tell me my day off was wed 19th. I got a phone call on the wed morning and was asked to come in, but my wife had to work and I had to watch my 2 young boys cause we had no babysitters. So when i was speaking to my boss and he told me i can't have the two days off even though I need the sat off an i was told by a colleagues text instead of a phone call from my manager!!! if i'm off on sat he said i would get a disciplinary. so what should i do please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Quick question
If you put the request in via Annual Leave (which is always the best way to do these things) then your sorted. They need to give you sufficient notice if they throw their toys out of the pram.
If however it's nothing more than a nod and a wink from some of the lying scummy managers we all know and 'love' from Royal Mail, your screwed. Lesson learned I hope. (GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING FROM NOW ON).
:mfo :cfo :lfo
Still, when this manager needs a favour from YOU, then YOU know what to do from now on don't you!

Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

Re: Quick question
from the direct gov website
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/ ... G_10034711" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If you want to take holiday
You must give your employer advance notice that you want to take holiday. This notice should be at least twice as long as the amount of holiday you want to take (for example, you should give two weeks' notice for one week's holiday).
Your employer can refuse permission for your holiday as long as they give you notice which is at least as long as the holiday requested (so to refuse a request for a week's leave, they would have to tell you a week in advance).
Your contract may set out other rules about when you can take your holiday. This is allowed so long as the rules don't effectively prevent you from taking holiday at all.
