We have a cleaner who management are getting to throw off deliveries nearly every day now, the previous temporary DOM did put a stop to it, but now we have our regular DOM back, as I said, the cleaner is throwing off at least 1 delivery a day.
What I'd like to know is, is this right, and if not, what can the rep do about it?

No. Contact Area Rep and IB would be my suggestion. As Stokes says "security of mail issue".trythat wrote:We have a cleaner who management are getting to throw off deliveries nearly every day now, the previous temporary DOM did put a stop to it, but now we have our regular DOM back, as I said, the cleaner is throwing off at least 1 delivery a day.

Re: Cleaner throwing off deliveries
Security of mail unfortuantely not really an issue, am quite "friendly" with our office cleaner and she says the romec cleaners are vetted in the same way we are and also sign the form making you aware of the official secrets act as they have "access" to the mail even though they are not supposed to touch it, what she suggests is the cleaner should advise her union rep that she is getting asked to do this as is not part of their t+c, incidently our previous cleaner used to do all the kill offs for the office, after she left the new cleaner refused as it was not part of her dutiesTrueBlueTerrier wrote:No. Contact Area Rep and IB would be my suggestion. well in a cleaner in our office used to do all the D2D's for everyone pretty much, and was earning about £1000 every week (including his normal wages)

taking flexibility too far , never mind " Postman Bob & his rulebook " on Hellmail , if the cleaner does have a flair and aptitude for sorting , RM can train the cleaner properly , put him / her in uniform and give him / her a contracttrythat wrote:We have a cleaner who management are getting to throw off deliveries nearly every day now, the previous temporary DOM did put a stop to it, but now we have our regular DOM back, as I said, the cleaner is throwing off at least 1 delivery a day.

Re: Cleaner throwing off deliveries
Depends if the cleaner is employed by ROMEC or Royal Mail, there are still some RM cleaners left for some reason, I think they are OSG graded. This cant be right though, surely?
