Ayrshire Strike action
CWU members have voted to take strike action from 0900 Sat 20th June till midnight Sunday 21st.
Irvine delivery office members have long complained of RM ignoring national and local agreements, in particular unagreed throughputs.
Please respect the picket line

Re: Ayrshire Strike action
This is from the CWU Scotland No2 Branch website.....
I represent CWU delivery workers in the Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway postcodes. Since the strike action in 2007 we have dealt with an RM management that has pursued every hour out of delivery, with or without agreement, until we can barely provide a service to customers. Only a strong Union has prevented them from going further in attempts to “casualise” the job.
Senior RM managers, using clipboards and graphs, are driving changes to working practices that ignore national and local agreements designed to protect member’s earnings and safe ways of working. CWU members are driven to bursting point and blamed for performance when things go wrong.
After months of talking under the IR Framework CWU members in Irvine DO have agreed to take strike action from Saturday 20th June. Other units are set to follow if Royal Mail refuse to address concerns members have over future job levels.
We know that you have been taking action over several weeks and hope that together we can force Royal Mail to the national table.

Re: Ayrshire Strike action
Well done Irvine

The time has come to stop turning the other cheek, time to stop shaking our heads in bitter dismay, time to stop mumbling our angry words.
The time has come for union.
The time has come for union.

Re: Ayrshire Strike action
RM managers from Ayrshire (members of Unite) have been busy strike busting on the East Coast in response to solid action from Scotland No 2 branch. The strike in Irvine will keep them busy this Saturday !

Rightly so brother Tamsky and to think that only a wee while back at a previous CWU Conference:Tamsky wrote:RM managers from Ayrshire (members of Unite) have been busy strike busting on the East Coast in response to solid action from Scotland No 2 branch. Unity is strength
A motion from London branches that sought to rule out any possible merger between the CWU and the Unite union was passed after a card vote.
The motion included the words, “Conference deplores the disgraceful actions of certain Unite members [meaning some Royal Mail managers who are in the CMA section of Unite] during the recent postal dispute, which has left a number of representatives and activists facing dismissal.”
The motion was heavily opposed by the CWU’s leadership, but received widespread support in the union’s branches.
Thanks be to the widespread support throughout the CWU branches.
"Today’s workplace has become heartless and soulless. Employees are seen as units of labour, automatons, functionaries, objects for achieving designated tasks, and as costs to be minimised."
