duty hours

Post by gerardy »

Hello at present I'am a duty holder on 30hrs and have just been informed as part of the proposals the management are going to do away with a duty in my office. The hours are to be added on to myself and another duty making my duty up to fulltime and because of this the duty has to go back on the board for resigning. There are two things I wanted to know about,
firstly because there are no other 30hr duties available for me what happens to me? can the management move me anywhere they want.
secondly I have been told because the duty is to back on the board anyone who currently has a 40hr contract will get the job before me even if I have seniorority to them because I am only on 30hrs, is this correct.
Someone else mentioned that because I am been moved of my duty and there is no duty for me to move to I could maybe have the right to apply for any duty in the office that is available with prefferance been given to me as I will have no duty.
I would be very if anyone can give me some advice.
THANKING - YOU :

you aren't gonna be told what you want to hear.

according to The Way Forward you're not being fiddled, which, i'm guessing, isn't what you wanted to read.
Confused... You won't be, after the next episode of. SOAP

:nana When S.D.D came in I lost my walk--for a number of months I was The goffer-not a nice place to be. They also tried to take away my rotating days off, and long weekend.Howver. I fought back. on the grounds that their treatment
was 'detrimental' to me ,and got my days off etc back."Fortunately, there was a full repick some months later. and I got a walk of my own again. And I am a long time postie, if I had been new to the job. I probably would have just accepted things. The one good thing about covering walks on a temporary basis, however, is that you get a chance to compare them, and when there is a re-pick, you have an idea of which ones to go for.
good luck.

Your seniority is not compromised by the fact that you are 30hours as that is not being equal!! When I first started they used to have part timers in their own seniority list under full timers but that has not been the case for many years......don't know how many cos they go so fast but must be at least 10 years!

The should be an agreed work plan for your office which sets out the hours required for disciplines other than deliveries - as a walk under the current agreemnt is 3.5 hours, then you should be able to retain that duty because the walk cannot be added to beyond the agreement. There should be ample time in your 6 hour duty to prep and deliver so what has been added to make the duty 40 hrs? Under this agreement you would not be able to apply for a current 40 hour duty.
