Attendance interview infront of workmate - Weren't you in with IR Rep? Regardless of that. you have the right to be treated fairly and impartially with dignity and respect at all interviews, and without knowing more of the details of alleged aggressiveness by your manager can't really comment any further. Perhaps some of the brothers and sisters who have had or are indeed involved in DRAW groups within Royal Mail could assist you further.geefaetheeast wrote:ok lads the manager blew his top at me very aggressively in front of my workmate at an attendace interview, grievance is in 2moro but question is ..should he be removed from the office until grievance is heard,i certainly think so
Unrealistic and as harsh as it may sound, not a cat in he""s chance that he or she will be removed from the office until grievance is heard. Wake up call they close ranks and protect each others backs.

Re: agressive manager at a stage meeting
And I hope that your meeting with higher management bodes well for you. Main point to put across to higher management is that as an employee you have the right to be treated fairly and impartially with dignity and respect, and not to be bawled out in front of a witness (who can corroberate this fact) in what can only be best described as an overtly aggressive manner by an office manager who is in a position of trust and authority within the company, and should know better.geefaetheeast wrote:cheers mate, got a meetn early next week with higher management
As an employee you expect to be addressed in a calm dignified manner regardless of what the interview is about. Is it not the case that all managers are required to establish and maintain acceptable standards of conduct and performance. You could emphasis the point that harassment, in general terms, may be defined as unwanted conduct affecting the dignity of men and women in the workplace. It may be related to age, sex, race, disability, religion, sexual orientation or any personal characteristic of the individual, and may be persistent or an isolated incident. The key is that the actions or comments are viewed as demeaning and unacceptable by the recipient.
You clearly viewed the manner in which you were addressed as deameaning and unacceptable and on that basis you in good faith lodged a grievance.
All line managers have a particular responsibility to promote a culture of mutual respect, professionalism and tolerance. However, this should not detract from the personal obligations of all employees to respect and promote dignity at work.

Re: agressive manager at a stage meeting
If this was a one off incident it would be hard I think to have a grievance found against manager as an apology might be suggestd instead. However, if you had warned the guy he was bullying/intimidating/harrassing you and then he continued in the same manner (at the time or on a seperate occasion) then you would have a case. He can simply say he wasn't aware you were feeling uncomfortable about his 'mangerial approach' so this is why you should always give the person a 'warning' or make them aware they are acting against RM's acceptable behaviour at work an making you feel uncomfortable. If they ignore this and attack you again your case is so much stronger.
Obviously is the incident was grossly abusive then a complaint is well in order as the norms of dignity and respect has been seriously breached.
