BUS FARES

Can anyone explain what the agreement means on bus fares and the pouching off allowance. I am confused. Are RM obliged to get you back to the DO in your contracted hrs and if this involves public transport do they have to pay bus fares? OR as DOM is suggesting, all they are required to provide is a pouching off point on the delivery then the delivery man has to make his own arrangements to get home, not to the DO, even if its in the middle of rural village?

There has been a change of tac on bus fare recently, on sdd and the advent of having sufficient space to get a person out on delivery and job and finish there has been a decided re-evaluation in the rules BUT I would suggest that unless there has been a specific agreement to end the payment then custom and practice
should prevail.

does anyone get free bus travel,to and from work im currently paying £15 a week ,where as in sheffield they are let on buses for free-i believe cheers.

We don't get free travel from and to work at our DO, but sometimes the drivers let us on free on their own

. We do have a pass for when we travel to and from our duties.

I only mean for travelling between DO and duty and back to DO, not to get to work from home. Is the pass for travelling back to DO after finishing duty within your contracted hours?

Yes it is. Also if it helps some don't have a pass but as long as they keep their tickets they can claim their bus fares back as well.

No Passes in my office but they do pay the bus fare back from your delivery if you keep your ticket.

Getting bus fare back is a long running joke in our office.

Because most people just their own cars, it means RM don't give a fig about the tiny few who have to use buses. Most that do use buses have long given up on ever getting their bus fare back.

I refuse to pay a penny in bus fare, as it is RM who (eventually) get me out on delivery but then expect me to walk 3.9 miles back to the office. So I allow the 1 hr 15 mins walk back into the delivery span.

I've been currently looking into this for a couple of my members. My area rep says blunt blank that RM are responsible for the returning to office of staff. In the SDD agreement theres a section on pouching off.

It says "compensation will be paid for excess distance beyond half a mile. The allowance represents payment for both travelling expenses and travelling time".

so basically you should get payed for the bus fare and also the time it takes you get back to your DO of if its closer, then your home!
