Actually they have come to an agreement where the local rep can back date the 14 page application as long as it is supported by relevant documentation, family members statements (pre-internment, cremation if possible) , and photographic evidence that you are in fact deceased. However a temporary contract may be required for family members to complete a delivery if the act of dying occurred whilst on duty, however, due to the obvious distress caused by such a sudden and unexpected occurrence, and in line with Royal Mails family friendly policy they will allow the family 24 hours to complete any unfinished portion of the delivery.BELIAL wrote:I thought our union were conducting a vigorous political campaign to rescind that one ? Indeed it does but it does say voluntary first and I am sure there will be plenty of people willing to take the offer. But if the clause is there no doubt Royal Mail will use it at some point.royalstar wrote:do we have to work overtime?

However, I would like to know what the legal opinion on this would be - is it enforceable.

I'd say the word voluntary sums it all up what ever else might be in a contract they will never be able to insist you do compulsory over time in law voluntary would mean just that if you were expected to do over time then surely there would have to be a special payments made weekly for them to use the optional / enforced o/t scenario

Do you still trigger a stage warning if you peg it at work or is it classed as AOD

Well, according to the managers in my office you'll still trigger a stage because if you die on the job then it has to be your fault and therefore cannot be classed as an AODBELIAL wrote:TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Actually they have come to an agreement where the local rep can back date the 14 page application as long as it is supported by relevant documentation, family members statements (pre-internment, cremation if possible) , and photographic evidence that you are in fact deceased. Ahhh but only if the bed and associated tubing and life support machines have been risk assessed and are in line with the WFD agreement. (Way approved For Dying).baldrick wrote:Especially if you weren't wearing your RM shoes and hi vis vest at the moment you shuffled off this mortal coil -
though they may overlook the RM shoes if you were in a hospital bed at the time.
