A little advice would be appreciated. I am p/t and work 25 hrs per wk, 4.5 hrs daily after meal relief.
As my walk takes 3.5 hrs to deliver I have 1 hr from starting work to starting the walk.Obviously my job requires prep as it would be impossible to do myself in this time. The amount of prep done before I arrive is rapidly reducing as the work gets heavier and I am struggling to do everything within my time.
Line manager makes promises then never keeps them about increased prep. This in itself is not a problem, I don't work over and am happy to cut off.
Normally I take handfuls of d2ds out with me and do them as I walk round, but is it correct that we are entitled to time to prepare d2ds within our contracted hours? If I were to take 10-15 mins daily to prep 25% before I even began sorting, it might just encourage my manager to weigh in with the correct amount of prep.
I did ask my rep but she said that d2ds should be prepped and delivered in our own time. I am fairly sure that I've heard differently.
If anyone could give me a definitive answer, preferably with a quotable rule, I would be very grateful.

These are extracts from the most current D2D agreement from 1996 and none has been accepted by the members of the CWU since that day so it is the current one.

For your query the last 2 are the most important.

Many thanks for both replies. By the time I've prepped the d2ds, got my specials, done the redirections, killed off the deads and bagged up, I should have about 9 minutes available for sorting.

What i would like to know is why your Rep is telling you to do them in your own time,You need to tell her to get a copy of the above (or print it off for her) and get her to give out the right advice in the future. With the way things are going in RM offices now, management will use this sort of mistake to get the less knowledgeable to do it in their own time, and before you know it this will become the norm for everyone.
GOOD LUCK
