Cut-Off

We've recently had a pegasus revision,but only for half the office(other half to be done in a couple of months)
a couple of the lads are genuinely struggling to complete,and said they are only working to there time.
The manager has insisted they must take there full meal relief prior to commencement of delivery.
is he allowed to impose this,as it clearly seems to be victimisation?

They do this in my office also. It is the only time they bring meal breaks up!!!!

When they tried this on in my office after we had a pegausus review, wel all said fine we will take the 40 min break before we go but you do realise I was willing to work up to my time and therefore I will be able to take even less.

Soon changes their mind, do they think coz your going out later you can deliver more.

That will change when park and loop comes in - we've already started trialling it.

Park and loop is that tethering a trolly to a lampost and thus arriveing to find the content's of said trolly all gone it is a wonderfull idea of utopia all gone in today's reality!. WHOEVER THOUGHT OF THIS MUST BE ON DRUG'S!. :cfo & :lfo

your only allowed to leave a hct trolly ten min at a time

Not if it is being used as a drop point as none is avilable in the area!.

Actually it's all about risk assesment,it's 10mins in low risk,5 mins in medium and down to 2 mins in high risk.
remember to quote this to the geo-route planner,and see what happens!

Well the theory is that two people share a van, taking all the registered letters, packets and parcels for 2 + a portion of a third delivery. Eliminating the necessity for bag drops, the mail is kept in the van for which each has a key and they take a pouch each, loop back to the van and take another pouch et sequentia.

It's been running for a week and the on site delivery time is reportedly 5 hours - though how much of that is actually delivery is a moot point it is obviously in excess of 3.5 but it does allow you to take a breather in not too uncomfortable surroundings.

Personally I think it could, if applied correctly, be beneficial to delivery officers - however we are all aware of RMs desire to push the boundaries of what is possible and what is impossible. Not that there isn't one or two problems that could arise personality wise but that's what managers are for, well that a removing doggie doo from your shoes.

now that i come to think of it i have heard of this before,just did not know it was called that.Dont think they will be trying this in the big citys etc,more for yer small towns and rurals.

So am i right in thinking that at a time when we are all being encouraged
to lower our carbon footprint, the ever green and socially aware RM, are proposing to replace
the bicycle with fume ommiting vans.

Quite so jp, we yokels need lukin efter. I don't think it is intended to be used in large urban areas - we have both, a split of about 50/50 - it is intended to be used primarily for rural duties BUT there is a distinct possibility that the outermost urban duties may well fall under this scheme. There has to be a saving to justify the use of a vehicle - which reportedly costs 15k a year to finance, which is about par, cost wise, for a part timer - and part timers are to be phased out under this scheme apparently. Strange that what was the "IN" thing two years ago has now become the "OUT" thing with the advent of park and loop and the amount of money spent buying down hours could have paid for a vehicle, almost, and I should know because they paid me two years ago last May.

There are a number of implications, outside the green issues which I am quite certain hold no sway for RM planners, resigns etc, delivery spans, geo route planning which would become questionable because the criteria would be changed from direct delivery to a mixed bag of parcels, large packets, and so on. Many people here use their own car for whatever purpose, and may not take too kindly to the new system.
