To get the Unions official position he would need to see the rep to get guidance.

However, the advice I think he would get is to do the job properly and watch the DOM squirm. If he does not want OT and the boss does not want to be flexible then why should your mate.

I would suggest your mate does no overtime, paid or unpaid, cuts off when he needs to and when asked why tell the boss the truth, you don't want to be flexible when it benefits us both so why should I be flexible when it benefits just Royal Mail. He will, it sounds like, come under pressure from management but if you all support him, there is not much they can go outside of his contracted hours.

mate at works having real issues wi my boss.

Postie does the job as is, correctly, and works til his mail is done.
He does not claim overtime, but elects to get the time back at (he wants it saturday), to come in later, with the manager to solve the sorting problem, as he sorts the mail.

Today, he was refused to come in later, the manager saying you cant claim the time back on saturdays!

Hes worked all week, does not want the o/t, but wants a later start on a sat.

What is the unions take on this, as the dom seems to be doing as he wishes, and this postie, whose round is a heavy one, cant ever get finished early, so how long will the dum keep putting the posties wishes for a later start saturday off?

I would be quoting this to the DOM and suggesting that he is not acting within the spirit of the national agreement. Then tell him due to this you will only be working your contracted hours ALL week. See what he does.
