Long Term Sick - Maintaining Contact?

Hi All,

Hope all are good.

Simple question really,

I am on Long Term Absence. For over one year. Basically Asthma and Type 1 Diabetes.

After much arguing, my office has allowed me to book some of my lost Annual Leave from LAST YEAR.

So I am now booked off work on Annual Leave even though I am on Long Term Sick.

My question is,

Do I have to maintain contact with my line manager during this time?

And he actually sent me a letter for a Face to Face Meeting today for tomorrow night. Even though I'm on booked Annual Leave?

Please advise!

You can't be off sick and on holiday at the same time. If you do use that holiday and remain off sick it'll probably get treated as a second absence and trigger a stage 2, or a stage 3 if you're already on a stage 2

I am currently being paid in full while still on Long Term Sick.

For nearly three weeks now.

My shift manager sanctioned it all.

It was actually him that said they shouldn't contact me if I was in a period of Annual Leave

My question again is, do deserve any freedom of anonymity while off?

So is there no real solid guidance to this procedure?

Or is it all up in the air?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

how are you being paid in full if you have been off over a year? Have you been in touch with O.H about your asthma? Might be useful to ask for a referral

I agreed to take annual leave before I returned to work, approx six weeks worth.You have been taken off sick leave and put on annual leave, there is no need to remain in contact but if you are not fit enough to work then why are you taking annual leave?
I would speak to a union rep and advise you take one with you in any meeting you attend.
