New sick procedures

Hi.
I’m currently on my first weeks sick. It looks likely that I may need a further one week before returning to my role.

I can’t for the life of me find the new attendance procedures that came into place on 1 August 23. My union rep is somewhat unsure if I would be paid going into the second week

1st absence is fully paid.

Sick pay from 1st August 2023 will be as follows:

The first period of an employee’s sick absence in a 12-month rolling period would be paid in
line with normal sick pay entitlements under the sick pay policy . For employees in the first
12 months of employment, this is statutory sick pay. After 12 months, this is normally full
pay for six months followed by half pay for six months; and

From the second and any subsequent period of absence in a 12-month rolling period, the
employee would receive the equivalent to statutory sick pay for:
• the first two days of the second absence;
• the first four days of the third absence;
• the first three days of the fourth and any subsequent

Judging by what you are saying.
Despite the possibility of you going sick for 2 weeks, it is only 1 absence.

If it is your second absence in a '12-month rolling period', then you would recieve ssp the first two days of the second absenc ect ect.

So for your second absence in a year you would be better staying off for a week rather than going back on the 3rd day

You won't get any more money and you'll be doing exactly what they've used as an excuse to cut the sick pay in the first place, taking the piss.

Last sick was in late December 2022

So this is past the old systems 6 months clear stage.

Rolling 12 months? Does this start fresh from August 1st or last year in December?

He is right though you may aswell have the rest of the week off sick. The new attendance sick pay is to stop people having 1 day or 2 days sick

So basically once you've gone sick once, you've got to keep your nose clean for 12 months before you get full pay again or it resets itself again?
