Why are the Xmas casuals on a higher rate of pay then bona-fide Royal Mail employees?

For a start they are not casuals but bona-fide Royal Mail employees?.
They are employees on a Royal Mail zero hour contract of employment that expires after Christmas


This Me- me jelousy that some people might be getting more than others is pathetic. Yesterday it was attacking disabled colleagues and redundancy options.

This time next year you might not even have a job so best get your priorities in order first

Okay, maybe bona-fide was a poor choice of words. However causal is the official job title..

I was just genuinely curious as to why they are paying them £13.00 an hour when i did it 2 years back on the minimum wage of £8.72

It just seems another way of Royal Mail sticking 2 fingers up at us thanks the current ongoing industrial action, of which has left me very disillusioned

It was £13 for night shifts last year as a Xmas Casual. On the downside of being a Xmas Casual you had to commit to work Mon-Fri every week, you didn’t know how long the job was for (you basically had to ask whether you would be in the next night), if you didn’t work a night (for whatever reason) you were terminated, all breaks are unpaid, training was minimal and H&S on the platform at the end of the night was horrendous.

It's £14+ an hour this year on night shift , the shift premium is incorporated in their hourly rate.
