Re: RIP Linda Roy
Just heard the very sad news that Linda Roy our former Head of Equality has passed away suddenly.
Linda made a great contribution to our Union over many years and was one of the first women to be elected as a national officer from the postal side.
Linda was a very strong advocate and role model for women taking leadership roles in the CWU and she fought tirelessly for equality and against all forms of discrimination and prejudice throughout her long career, including in her wider Trade union and labour movement roles.
She will be sorely missed by all her many friends and colleagues across the CWU and on behalf of the union we offer our sincere condolences to her husband Alex and Linda's family.
My thoughts are with you all at this very diificult time.
RIP Linda you achieved so much in your life and in our union.
Dave Ward
General Secretary

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Linda Roy
24 February1954 - 27 October2022
On behalf of Alex, Simon, Julie, Megan and Linda’s family it is with a heavy heart that we have to announce that Linda Roy passed away peacefully in Pinderfields ICU last night with her family by her side.
Over many years Linda worked, helped, improved and touched many people’s lives in her home town as Town Councillor, and Mayor of Featherstone, and in local and national positions representing many members in the Communication Workers Union. Always inclusive never exclusive!
We place on record our thanks and appreciation to all the surgeons, consultants, nurses and ancillary staff in the intensive care unit who treated Linda with so much tlc.
Your Thoughts and Prayers will be greatly received, and acknowledged in time, but can we please ask that her Family are given time to come to terms with the sudden loss of a Loving Wife, Mother, Mother in Law, Nanna, Sister, & Sister in Law.
We will publicise Linda’s funeral arrangements in due course.
RIP lovely lady.
