Off sick for 2 years/ill health retirement

Hi,

I have been off sick work from Royal Mail for over 2 years now, I was employed for around 2 years then being sick for 2 years more now. I suffer from anxiety and depression and receive regular counselling and medications in my everyday life. I have my ups and downs but still struggling.

So my issue is now Iv been of sick for 2 years a very long time and I’m stuck with Royal Mail, I can’t do anything else or focus on trying to get better with Royal Mail still hanging on my back. I have spoken with OHS around 7 times during my period of being of sick in which the last 2 times specifically I was told that Royal Mail should be considering other options ( Ill health retirement ) and that I won’t be returning to work in the foreseeable future. I have spoken to union and still am. I’m just wandering why are they not listening to the OHS and taking there advice. 2 long years Iv been stuck and trying to get better and move on so I can focus on my health.

Everything just has been soo long, even now I had my last OHS in June and the lady was angry with Royal Mail as to why they are keep referring me to OHS when they have been told to consider other options as I won’t be returning to work in the foreseeable future. Iv been getting no money what so ever only until recently I started receiving pip and universal credit which was a mission in itself to receive.

I’m just wandering if this carries on for another 2 years ? What steps can I take to get this resolved. Also Iv been giving in sick notes for the last 2 years Iv never missed not giving a sick note. I also remained in contact with Royal Mail as I should until recently I stopped because my health has gone bit down hill and medications gone up in dosage.

Anyone out there been through the same situation or know why this is happening .
