Is it me?
Is it me or are Managers employed for how thick they are?
Trying to explain this to my manager.
A 35 hour shift over 5 days is 7 hours per day.
Out of that, you're entitled to a 30 minute paid break.
I am struggling to see what Management don't understand about this but it seems to go in one ear and out of the other.

Re: Is it me?
They just cannot understand what I've written. My manager is trying to force members at my DO to work O/T when they don't want it.
He's detailing people onto walks that take 6 hours including prep and then throwing them onto a 2.5 hour collection duty.
It's like banging my head against a brick wall.

Get onto the cwu they'll represent you even if your not in the union
No one can force you to work OT
Start on your time
Finish on your time
They can't do a thing

Re: Is it me?
Royal Mail works on contracted hours over a five day period, not days of attendance.
One day you could work an eight hour shift so entitled to a 40 minute break

Re: Is it me?
Correct and then you get a Manager that puts someone on 5 x 8.5 hour shifts on the rota and wonders why the CWU has to step in.

if you went over 7hrs you would be entitled to 40mins break on that day so start adding an extra 10mins too if so

I've sat the manager down again today and shown him on the rota where it's going wrong.world class male wrote: ↑08 Jun 2022, 04:51do you actually do 7hrs per day or average it? say i.e 6hrs on a tues then 7hrs30 on a wed&thurHanzey wrote: ↑07 Jun 2022, 18:57Is it me or are Managers employed for how thick they are?

He nodded and made all the right noises but I doubt if it's sunk in.

Re: Is it me?
Just for clarification
How can you have 5 x 8.5 hour shifts when the maximum working week is 37 hours?

Re: Is it me?
It can be an average of 37hrs over a set period, some work a 4 day week or a 9 day fortnight or even Wallington where it's averaged over 6 weeks.
But I think in this case it's an expectation that they'll just accept the overtime.
