Attendance procedure

Please can someone shed some light on a question about the attendance procedure that gets asked all the time at our office and nobody seems to know the answer. I'll use basic dates so explaining is simpler, ( here goes ) if a postie is given a stage 1 warning on the 1st Jan 2022 the procedure is 2 absences / 10 days in a 6 month period from date of issue, so July 1st is the last day of monitoring. Here comes the question are you still monitored after the 6 month period even if you've had no time off up till 12 months or after 6 months is your attendance record cleaned.

The reviews always cover the previous 12 months, so even if you clear a stage 1 after 6 months, any absence during that 6 months will count towards another review if you go over the minimum standards. In fact, it's quite possible that an absence can count towards 2 separate stages if they are within 12 months.

So if you had 10 days sick off in December and that triggered a stage 1, even though you clear the stage with no absences in 6 months. If you go off sick again for 5 days in August, that could trigger another stage 1.

In essence, your sick record is never "cleaned" all absences can cause a review if they exceed the minimum standards.

Thanks for getting back, so when your told by your lino ( at the interview ) and office Rep that after 6 months if you've not had any time off during the 6 month period the slate is then cleaned this is in fact not the case ?

You are no longer on a stage warning but the absences don't disappear and can still be included in another stage warning

I have to disagree I'm afraid.
Once a review is triggered all absence up to the review become part of that review.
These absences cannot be considered in a subsequent review.(other than at consideration for dismissal stage when all absence is reviewed)

When you think about it logically it would have to be so otherwise one 14 day absence would just continually trigger reviews.

However if during the six months period you have a further absence which does not trigger a second review that absence because it occurred after the first review will count going forward even though your first review is now expired.

This thread is prime example of no matter how many times it is debated, no clarity can be attained.
It can only be concluded the agreed attendance procedure was designed in such a way you need to be Alan Turing to understand by deliberate design

Is there any agreement to this, if so where ?
I have to ask this 12 month rolling sickness guide is very deceiving because there is no mention of this on the stage sheets issued when a stage procedure is conducted. Many people just read the 6 months and assume there off the stage ( which is correct ) but your still being monitored for a further 6 months ( 12 months from last sick ) which isn’t stated anywhere in the documentation whatsoever that’s issued. I bet many a Postie has been caught out by this mis-informed but very important part of the attendance procedure.

Can I ask one last question is the 12 month period from the last sick period or the date of issue of the stage ??
