Notice/holiday
Hi all,
I have two weeks off from 30th of this month and due to go back to work on the 13th, however I have accepted a new job
and start there on the 13th instead. I’m just wondering when I should give my notice? I’m there less than a year so only need to give a week but I won’t have accrued enough hours for those two weeks holidays if that makes sense? So should I just give the week commencing 23rd as my notice? Any help appreciated, thanks

Re: Notice/holiday
Ok that complicates things
so can the 4 weeks notice include those two weeks (already approved) holidays even though I won’t have accrued the hours for them? I don’t expect to get paid for holidays I haven’t accrued, just want out, but want to do it the right way

Re: Notice/holiday
You need to look at what your contract of employment states with termination of your contract of employment, not Chinese whispers

Re: Notice/holiday
You accrue holiday entitlement up to the day your contract terminates
For a full time employee you are entitled to 22.5 days plus eight bank holidays a year giving a total 30.5 days.
The Royal Mail annual leave cycle starts April so you would not have accrued enough for those two weeks.
Put in your notice now for a leaving date would be my advice in writing and work those two weeks holiday you originally requested. Your new job will probably be monthly paid so need the pennies to get you through that first month
But that is if it was me in your position

Re: Notice/holiday
How long is the probationary period ? Don't you have to have worked for the company for X amount of time before the termination period applies ?

Re: Notice/holiday
Under the Employment Rights Act, working for any company the probationary period is 24 months
Any company can now literally dismiss within the first two years and the dismissal automatically fair. Only exception being disability of whistle blowing etc being protected rights
