Vacant duties query

Post by makingsounds »

In an office with 30 odd duties, 7 duties are and have been vacant for quite a while as the DOM wants flexability to move people about and he is refusing to advertise the posts internally and allow them to be signed for in seniority, which the staff want to do,is this right?

They need to be advertised after 6 months or when 5% of the office duties are vacant

I'd say No. But Best Bet is pump it up the line to your Area Delivery Rep (your Unit Rep doesn't seem to be doing anything about it). :thumbdown

Are you delivering these Duties in any kind of organised manner or is it just Names in a Hat? I'd have thought you'd have had several Reserves working in rotation through several duties each. And if you're doing that you might as well have a Duty Holder and do the job properly. :hmmmm

I understand it's more stressful not being a Duty Holder. Good Luck. :cuppa
