How long should it take to complete a loop?
Hi,
Would just like to know what the average timeframe is for completing a loop: as in the green side or the red side.
I've been working on the assumption that it's an average of half hour per side but one of our managers seems to think it ought to be quicker.
Is there an official "average?"
Thanks.

Rule 1 Ignore managers, they are self-serving paid liars and will say anything to get as much work done as quickly and cheaply as possible.
Don't get involved in discussions with these scumbags it rarely goes well.
No there is no official average.

Just divide the outdoor working time by how many loops you have for average loop time. Plus all loops are not equal and all posties work at diffrent speeds. Sounds like the manager is just putting pressure on you.

What is the green side and what is the red side?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

His D0's on a ship...
the two sides of each vessel are marked, dusk to dawn, by navigation lights, the vessel's starboard side by green and its port side by red.[12]: 15 Aircraft are lit in the same way.
Or is he on a plane?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

In our office the driver and walker's loops are differentiated on the frame by the colours red and green.
As has been said all loops are different lengths, different call rates and attendance rates on any given day. The slags, sorry, screws will say anything to make you think that you're too slow, make you work faster, work through breaks, cut corners, come in early, work for free. If a screws lips move, they're lying. If you get any s**t, see your rep.

All depends how much of a mate your manager is,if he's your friend your loops will be half the size of a regular loop.if not then it's probably 40 to 45 mins...plus something that rm seem to forget is that in reality everyday will be a different time coz no 2 days are the same in this job.

Not much changes does it.If a manager says the sky is blue, always look out the window and check because they may be lying, or they had to check with the DOM and are 1 day late in telling you.

Nah TBT it doesn't. For all the fine words about culture change that spill from whatever figurehead they've dredged up, it's good to rely on RM management remaining constant in their crapulence.
EDIT think Ive just paraphrased POSTMAN's signature.

Re: How long should it take to complete a loop?
When we had our P&L revision in 2011 every walk got a laminated sheet designating the loops as driver/passenger red/green (sometimes the driver's first loop is 10 minutes shorter than the passenger so they can do some oversized/specials, for what 10 minutes is worth), the parking location, and the duration of the loop. That information is located somewhere (walklog?) and I would absolutely not take a manager's word at face value. Under P&L Mark 1 it tended to hover around 25 to 30 minutes with a bag on your shoulder and an hour or so if using a light weight trolley.Jonx wrote: ↑15 Dec 2021, 22:22Hi,
