Clinically vulnerable staff treated badly.

Post by Unclefester67 »

Hi. I have a medical condition and classed as clinically vulnerable. Was forced to shield during pandemic and feel let down by royal mail treatment of me . Same for all others like me. I lost 3wks annual leave because I shielded. Didmt qualify for any backdated average holiday pay because I shielded. This week I had to go off sick because I have been receiving treatment for the past 17 months and got too much trying to squeeze my treatment in during work hours. Side effects lasting 4 days. I was struggling physically and mentally. Never asked for time off to have my treatment and haven't been off sick for 3ys. Got a shock this week when I didn't get any wages, just statutory sick pay £82. Surely its discrimination to treat people with health problems differently to other staff.

Of course it’s unfair.
COVID still remains, the vulnerable will suffer financially and mentally.

The Government is trying to normalise Covid, Business is trying to normalise Covid.
Keeping safe is paramount which unfortunately means taking a financial hit..

There’s no fairness in failed Goverment.

Are you aware that any time off shielding is being stricken from the absence record ( so it's like you weren't off at all ).
Therefore should get normal sick pay (unless you have exhausted the sick pay policy exclusive of shielding).

Unfortunately you still won't get your annual leave back.
