Holidays

Post by Bridgeman »

Can someone help me with a question about holidays? I have a week off starting from this Saturday, my next scheduled week off is in mid,-March. That six months between holidays, is this legal? Seems like a long time between the two. I'm still owed 3+ weeks for this year, but have been told that all weeks are booked and that everyone owed weeks.

Edit from that Policy link;

Entitlement
• The holiday year runs from 1 April to 31 March.

• You can carry a maximum of five days over into
the next holiday year. If you want to carry over
more than five days, you will need to speak to your manager

• You will be able to take your
annual holiday allowance in the
relevant holiday year.

When u take your leave is upto you. There is nothing stopping you in the eyes of the law if you take your full entitled leave in 1 go.
So you can have your whole 6 weeks off in consecutive weeks if you wanted to then you would have to work the other 46 weeks of that particular year consecutive.

Problem we have at RM is we only get to pick our leave from 46 weeks and not 52 that's why there is a lot spaces blocked up in leave selection. Also it seems Christmas pressure is getting longer soon we won't be able to pick leave in November or December the way they are going.

Further National discussions continue with Royal Mail regarding the impact of owed/carried over annual leave, and talks remain ongoing in relation to a wider review of the Weekly Resourcing Agenda. Branches and Representatives will continue to be updated in due course.

Read everything, look what needs to be done, and point Screws and reps in the right direction.

Ongoing work and discussions are taking place to improve current annual leave arrangements which are anticipated to be concluded in readiness for the October allocation process for the 2022/23 leave year.

Looks like both RM and the CWU don't know how things are supposed to work. AL is meant to be completely sorted by October. AL application forms should have gone out by now

Not so I'm afraid. A company cannot stop you taking leave but can tell you when to take it.

The christmas leave block shouldn't restrict leave the rest of the year. Everyone's leave should be planned in to the available weeks and leave sheets issued to everyone for all their leave by the end of October
