Any truth that RM are consulting with CWU about charging posties for damage to PDA's if for example a postie were to drop one and damage it?

Yeah, and the vans if you drive one. Or the HCT if you push one. Also, if you tear your jacket on a spiky hedge, loose nail or burn a hole in it with your cigarette for example, your liable.

That's always been an option since the PDAs came in, but there is a strict process to follow, and normally it would only be in cases of gross negligence. Such as if it bounced off the DOMs desk if you had an argument with them and threw it [/joke]

Ta for the reply, why do think my line manager would emphasise damage to pda's are a source of discussion between RM and CWU, is there such a discussion? Come on union rep, am I in the correct section?......

It would kind of make sense to have your own personal PDA and you take it home with when your not at work.

Hopefully that'll stop the annoying bastards ripping off the strap and pen. So people who wear gloves like myself can't use them

They will always be discussing things like this, the CWU protecting us, RM wanting to come down harder on negligence etc.

But to be frank your manager may have just made it up on the spot because you asked a question.

The strap and pen issue is easily rectified by doing what I do, take it off at the end of your shift and put it in a safe place and put it back on next day.

The strap and pen issue is easily rectified by doing what I do, take it off at the end of your shift and put it in a safe place and put it back on next day.

I do that also, but it means i have to waste time removing the battery and waiting for it to load up again. I wouldn't want to be inefficient.
