Hi
A colleague & friend of mine is about have a grievance meeting I know she can take in an accredited Union Rep from the CWU or another union and be accompanied by a work colleague. My question is can she take a lawyer or friend/family member at any meetings. Also if she is suffering from mental health issues and is on strong medication could they speak on behalf of her if at anytime she struggles at the meetings.
Thank you so much

I'm not 100% but I don't think you can have 'outside people' involved in 'inside meetings'.
Maybe others can 100% confirm.
But you have to exhaust all internal procedures anyway.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Right of representation for a grievance meeting
Correct.
Equality and Fairness; Conduct Policy, Grievance Policy and Stop Bullying and Harassment Policy
[15.3] You may not be represented by anyone outside Royal Mail Group Ltd other than your union if appropriate, until the relevant procedure is over. You can, however, go outside for advice and complain to the Equality and Human Rights Commission or, if you qualify, complain to an Employment Tribunal, at any time.

Does this text & info come from Royal Mail policy & guidance or is this a statutory right. I am really grateful just want to make sure knowing how they will react that I’ve got my facts right. Thank you

Re: Right of representation for a grievance meeting
Discipline and grievances at work
Employers are free, but are not obliged, to allow workers to be accompanied by
a companion who does not fall within the above categories. Some workers may
have a contractual right to be accompanied by persons other than those listed
above (for instance a professional support body, partner, spouse or legal
representative).
Reasonable adjustment may be needed for a worker with a disability (and
possibly for their companion if they are disabled). For example the provision of a
support worker or advocate with knowledge of the disability and its effects.
Workers may ask an official from any trade union to accompany them at a
disciplinary or grievance hearing, regardless of whether or not they are a
member or the union is recognised.

Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.
