Reciprocal Agreement

Post by 10shamrock »

My manager seems to have it in for me at the moment and has been adding up the minutes if I happen to leave early.
2 minutes one day, 3 minutes another etc.
He is now stating I owe him 30 minutes and is trying to give me double lapsing.
He is only doing this for me and no one else in the office.
Its making me so stressed and miserable just going into work at the moment.
Does anyone know if this is even allowed please??

And don't leave early.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Thanks for clarifying that for me.
Believe me I won't leave the office even 30 seconds early from now on - its not worth the hassle!?

It's your manager's job to resource to workload daily, so if you're finishing 30 mins plus regularly, in any single day, that's their problem to deal with by giving extra work. However, like you said, it's a few minutes here and there and it's not a reasonable request to lapse an extra loop in 3 minutes. There is no banking of time.

To protect yourself for the short term, don't leave early, and do some extra kill-offs or other D2Ds, or even better ask the manager what to do in the 3 minutes before you finish. Leave dead on time. If the problem persists, tell him as you're the only one being targeted you'll be putting in a grievance. If he starts acting like more of a bully by giving you double lapsing knowing you can't complete, take photos of lapsing plan and record your finish time on paper as evidence and do put in a grievance. Also record times other staff leave so you can challenge this as a comparison. Don't be stressed, just record everything because ultimately you're in the right and they're in the wrong.

Don't ever feel pressured to take on more than you want to either, always put the ball in their court by stating you have X time and what do they want you to do, and then if they ask for too much, ask a time they want for you to phone them with an update on whether you can complete or bring Y minutes worth of work back. They'll get sick of it eventually, they're likely trying to cover for their own failings because of pressure from above.

You could also try taking the more diplomatic route by asking for a one to one meeting instead of a grievance, with the rep present and tell them what they're doing is unreasonable, you understand the pressure their under and you don't want to put in a grievance but what he's asking for doesn't align with your duty time and he should distribute the work by other means.

Just ask your rep to inform the manager that this is not the agreed procedure. If they still want to introduce banking of hours then the rep needs to go to disagreement under the new IR framework. Rep can submit it unilaterally if the manager doesn't want to do it. As its clearly against any agreements in less than 1 week the ruling will come down from above. This is a simply task for rep.

Double lapsing ? = we'd kill for that !

Not sure what the correct word for it is, but we now have 5 x lapsing ( generally over 100 extra houses each)

I know what word i would use for it unless you have got time to do it & if so route is too small

5 minutes, more like 30.
