We've both signed for the same walk.
I've been told by two managers and a former union rep that the oldest person gets the walk.
The Dom has contacted HR and been told they use a point system from our interviews to see who scored highest.
A short 2013 document called "Seniority - Guide for employees" says:
- I'm 90% sure I didn't get a letter confirming the offer of employment, just an email (which I assume would have been sent to the other postie on the same day)Following the Age Regulations in October 2006 the sequence will be:
any periods of Royal Mail Group service on other grades, i.e. longest total Royal Mail Group service first,
Date of written confirmation offering employment, earliest first
If still equal then - date of interview, earliest first
If still equal then - date of test, earliest first
- It's possible we had interviews on different days, I think they did them over a couple of weeks
- from the context I assume the "test" it mentions is the computer test done at the start of the application (it asks you a bunch of personality questions like "Rate which is most important, speed or accuracy", followed by a series of "spot the difference" with addresses / barcode numbers. "Test" could mean the big van driving test, but I presume that wouldn't be included, since I don't think that is done at some offices?).
Is the above document still accurate? Getting points from the interview seems weird, but plausible.
