Management bluffing yet again

Don't know if it is the same in every office or how Royal Mail can basically get away with it but at the moment the managers in our office are pulling a fast one (I believe).
The managers are letting staff take outstanding annual leave and previously booked leave which is a good thing, however they are failing to cover the duties of the people of on leave. They cover every other day and then pressure staff into taking out 2 days mail and as you know with the massive increase in parcels and packets this is a complete joke. They seem to be using covid as a massive cover up for not covering duties and I don't believe this is been recorded correctly if it is even been reported.
Can this be reported to anyone or is this now the normal level of service our customers receive and deserve.
Moral was always bad in our office but now managers just do what they want, we have no rep in the office and we never see our area rep. No culture change here

TBH you can't really blame the Area Rep for not visiting more regularly when your own colleagues can't be arsed to put up a Unit Rep can you?

Has anyone in your DO thought it might be this sort of Apathy that gives the DOMs the idea that they can please themselves? Get yourselves organised try and persuade one of your more outspoken colleagues to run for Unit Rep. Then support him in the role ..... back up his Disagreements with the Dom .... and then they might stop treating you like a soft touch.

What’s a manager ? Didn’t see one today , we made our own decisions. Left 5 loops in and all non tracked and still worked over . When it’s a really busy day they hide in there office and leave it up to us .

Lapsing of duties when people are on leave has gone on for years, nothing new there. Don’t think he’s talking about lapsing it’s about managers using covid as a excuse not to cover walks

It is a joke...but at least they're not telling the '@losings Mi££ions a day' joke at the moment.

The 'mails down so lapsing' joke has been a fixture in our office for years but it got much funnier with the Covid cut-offs and nondelivery for days.

We eagerly await the Pathway To Change jokes with the inevitable double/triple lapsing and Conduct Coding for failing to achieve fantasy targets jokes.

I also doubt they've been recording the failures.

To be fair, if you've been paid bonuses to prove that the mail is down (manipulate and misreport staistics) then it might be awkward to have to admit the reverse. Much better to simply pretend and then dump the bullshit upon the Oiks.

I agree the same OLD BORING Mantras spouted out by unimaginative DOMs They get them all from "The Little Book of Bullshit"
that they're all given when they become a DOM

We regularly use the "The Mail's Dropping Off .... Thank God for that" as we're stood at our frames surrounded by trays of mail and loads of parcels. The usual answer is, "Well Across the Business, on Average, the letter volumes are dropping"! Well there must be some DOs that have got Bugger All letters because we're picking up the slack.

Totally agree with the Fudging of Performance Figures. When our PHG reports Failures, and Part Failures, on the system our DOM will normally get a phone call from HIS Boss telling him to delete them. That's what happens when you use a Bonus sysytem based on Performances.

I'm sure the CEO would really like to know The True Picture of how his comapny is performing, he might then be able to concentrate on correcting the important bits?
