The problem is RM puts a monetary offer in the deal and a lot of people don't read any further, that's how these s**t deals get voted in. I don't think this deal will be any different.

the "deal of the decade" can only be voted in by deliveries, as they outnumber everyone else by 4 or 5-1.
So if or more likely WHEN it gets voted in who will get the blame, deliveries? No of course not !
Any and everyone else?? probably.
Generally those that post on here are preaching to the already converted, get out there and make a difference locally.
I can honestly say i am yet to meet anyone who voted for "the deal of the century" yet here we are.
IMHO our delivery revision agreements should contain a caveat like... those who come in early will be conduct coded, also those who do not use the tools for the job IE private cars will also suffer a similar fate.

I know this may sound unreasonable but as a lowly local rep who is here to represent everybody equally. I, you, we do not need to have people cutting every corner imaginable in order to finish early, and by doing so show up everyone of their colleagues to RM as lazy slackers. Let RM think that they've been tucked up by the rep, and so want some form of retribution.
Why give these people enough rope to hang us all, why not stop them in their tracks and only let them have enough to hang themselves.
Put the onus back on the firm to chase these people up and find them more work.

It might concentrate minds, just a thought.

It was in the last agreement that people who didn't use the correct delivery methods would be conduct coded(after counselling). But writing these things down, and getting both managers and posties to follow them in practice are two different things.

Follow up to bogstandard:

Whatever deal agreed will likely be voted in - and I agree it will mainly be carried by 'Delivery'. why?

Because of the numbers as highlighted and also because there are still many many posties that are 'alright' and will see any progress on doing the job properly as not beneficial to their position; we still have a large number of long-term FT (&small number of long-term PT) that have themselves easier rounds and are street-wise or so influential that that are rarely harassed and never bullied (at least no longer).

In addition to the I'm alright brigade some people just cannot get finishing at a certain time out of their system - so they will most likely work against the system - RM & Union knows this!

Also there are many in deliveries that are frankly ignorant of the issues and they are most likely just going to go with the Reps and Union. Some offices have not even had a full revision - there could be some Turkeys voting for Xmas.

Lastly, apathy will also be a factor, and that combined with above will result in the NO vote to any Agreement being almost irrelevant.

Good idea to try to do things at local level - but it will not work: you will be outnumbered and the status quo will persist; it might even become detrimental to you.

Our New Rep (20 years service) resigned within a few months of taking over - he sighted lack of support from Members, Management and CWU.

Could someone clear something up for me?
The validity of the IA ballot runs out on the 27/11, now the union need to give 7 days notice of any IA.
So if the union don't advise RM today of Stoke plans a new ballot needs to take place.
I could be wrong but that is my take on the issue.

It would be good of the union to at least have something on their website saying talks are continuing.

The shoddy way that members gave been treated. Just because they are not allowed to talk about the specifics of the talk does not mean that they should not make some effort to communicate and urge people to keep the faith, after all they started it all with these:

2. The ballot would be posed around asking the membership to support Union policy on the following questions:


- Backing for our pay policy.
- Backing for no cooperation with new efficiency / budget / performance demands or Mail Centre / RDC Rationalisation (until agreement has been reached on the position set out in the Special Report).
- Anti privatisation.
- Support for the boycott of competitors mail.


3. The ballot will take place in May 2013. Final arrangements including the actual timetable and the specific questions will be published to Annual Conference via an Emergency Motion.

So this started way back in April... Items 3 and 4 is already out of the question and was a distraction and part of the time and effort wasted.

Non-cooperation is now replaced with consensus - in bed together sort of... Item one is probably sorted and the rest of item 2 - details which were never properly and/or widely communicated has been on-going for how long?
