Re: talks update
Your right in what you say but if you don't like slugging your guts out why not move to a different function and have an easy life. I left delivery and enjoy what I do. You might also find it's not as easy a you think it is..Sugar wrote:Says it all really.cloherty1976 wrote:Tbt my problem is that we have changed. Years ago we were all paid roughly the same and had allowances for everything. This has gone and we all have different hours and days that we can work. Everyone has a different agenda and basically to me it seems so much about delivery this time. Delivery are always moaning on here about the last deal but to me the last deal was a winner for me a my section. This is not to say everything is perfect but not to bad..
"I'm alright Jack".
You try delivery with P&L and then you might have a wee bit more sympathy for the guys and gals slogging their guts out everyday trying to achieve unachievable workloads with constant pressure from management. Deliveries has suffered for the last 3 years whilst you seem to have had a cushy number reading by your comments so its about time WE in deliveries got something back for all that suffering.
The reason so many long timers don't vote or have pulled out of the union in our area is simply down to the fact that other sections of the company have come out of the last couple of revisions/agreements far far far better off than deliveries.

How did other sections come out of the last couple of agreements far far far better than deliveries?Sugar wrote:

Why would deliveries have voted them in?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Why would deliveries have voted them in?
The voting for the BT2010 agreement was infuenced heavly by the CWU leadership rolling out the Billy & Dave roadshow, a large amount of time, money & effort was put into encouraging members to vote YES to the deal.
REPs who were against the deal, went to the meeting then came back singing it's praises, then after the result was in, they reverted back to calling it a bad deal.
Members generally don't read the fine print, they vote how they are told to by the local reps, and as there are more members in delivery...well the rest is history
Q- Why did the CWU HQ to roll out its roadshow and try and inffuence the membership, why didn't they allow members to make up their own minds about the deal ?

Re: talks update
Don't be misled by those who say that Network ,Mail Centres and RDC did not lose out cause a lot suffered more than delivery offices. RDCs have lost more work due to the DSA then anyone and have lost loads of jobs and seen closure of RDCs.
As time to VOCs , most delivery postmen and women don't know that all routes on Professional drivers are worked out on paragon and can be moved away from offices to be done cheaper from other VOCs. This does not happen in delivery offices.
Over 30 Mail centre have closed or are closing , changing members life's for ever !! They have had to move offices or leave Royal Mail. Delivery offices have had Revisions and yes delivery methods and D2D into workload but the majority have kept their jobs.

Re: talks update
Catch 22:
keep your job and suffer in silence and probably don't make it health-wise to enjoy your pay and invariably your reduced pension
or
lose your job, get paid off and look for something else
* It is about the here and now and the issue is about bullying and harassment and unreasonable workload and expectation.
Yes, it a shame that some have lost their jobs but a lot are still employed in those other sections and the drivers/logistics are not exactly on zero-contract, are they?

I agree with you that other sections have suffered by losing work, and I understand how hard it has been for indoor members toodingo wrote:Don't be misled by those who say that Network ,Mail Centres and RDC did not lose out cause a lot suffered more than delivery offices. But deliveries have had the workload increased, while hours in the offices have decreased.
Most people I know in mine & surrounding offices are starting work between 15-90m early, theyre not taking even half they meal relief time and they're preping D2D's in their own time. not using trolleys, 2 bags worn bandana style.....
BT2010 has increased this behavior 10-fold. the. 39 hour week is just a fantasy for most

By your very tone it's obvious you have no sympathy for the plight of delivery officers who have had the biggest changes in BT2010. Why did those from MCs not try to get jobs in the delivery offices rather than take the golden handshake because there was no compulsory redundancies or at least the overarching effort was no compulsory redundancies or is that a myth. As a matter of interest how many MCs have closed since 2009?dingo wrote:Don't be misled by those who say that Network ,Mail Centres and RDC did not lose out cause a lot suffered more than delivery offices. Re: talks update
Dingo makes such a good point and that is why you have to look after your own office. If you lose a customer you can lose a duty at 28 days notice and the same as an office that is reliable can also gain work. Paragon tells them everything down to the last minute so they move work around and give the 28 days notice which has been agreed by the union. So nothing to complain and you just have to get on with things the best you canCut Off King wrote:I agree with you that other sections have suffered by losing work, and I understand how hard it has been for indoor members toodingo wrote:Don't be misled by those who say that Network ,Mail Centres and RDC did not lose out cause a lot suffered more than delivery offices.
