Unagreed Pareto/Performance Tool:Abuse of IWT
Manager in my office abusing figures in the indoor prep plan to extend deliviers, also questions staffs performance if they take 3/4 mins longer prepping a duty than what his plan says...

PDA actuals, and the indoor version of this(RM terminology for this escapes me ATM.), are actually beneficial and a good idea for posties given that most walks nowadays take longer to complete than the PAID duty hours. If you are in one of the few remaining DOs where the walks regularly take less time to complete or you are 'swinging the lead' then there will be repercussions.woofwoof wrote:I think this needs updating to include pda actuals lads and lasses
In an ideal and moral world the new data will be used to redesign walks in the future which should make it more likely to make walks of a more equal length. I would not be surprised to see factual data not used if it would result on backtracking of the many cost savings that have been made by RM.

Is the iwt floored and if so can someone give me a reason why. Our dim uses it daily saying people are slow on their walk prep, ie being told the figures say a job should be prepped and tied up in 1 hour and 15 minutes, that's including break, van checks,

Even managers don't even care about IWT down our way. It's a nonsense planning tool. "A could take time" not a does take time. Like we always say the only agreed prep performance measure is a 1 minute prep test. Everything else is just managers chancing their arm. Tbf tho it's so quiet at the moment if you know your delivery well you could probably prep and tie up in an hour on a Monday and Tuesday if you had all the mail presented to you and had no clearing down to do.

Re: Unagreed Pareto/Performance Tool:Abuse of IWT
If a manager comes the iwt tool, what is our argument against it. I keep being told by the dim I should not be booking of as it says iwt says I shouldnt be booking any. Help needed asap as getting pissed off with the daily battle. Even union rep says these figures are right. What do the iwt figures actually include

The figures for the day may be correct but the prep rate will probably be wrong. Everyone is different and theres no agreed delivery rate so your boss is trying it on.

Remember all revisions were based on WIPWH for both indoor and outdoor. The IWT only accounts for 18% of a delivery persons workload and currently version 8 has still not come out.

So long ago you and I had different names.
The issue is always the same.
The IWT being used as a measure of individual performance and the outputs used to bully staff.
That's always been the problem.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
